About the role
Are you passionate about caring for the environment? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Wastewater Quality and Compliance Team as a Trade Effluent Team Leader. Working with colleagues and regulators to deliver excellent wastewater services and regulatory compliance for our customers, communities and the environment.
In this role, you will oversee a team of Trade Effluent Advisors, liaise with internal and external stakeholders/customers whilst ensuring all trade discharges that enter the public sewerage network are managed in accordance with regulatory requirements. These activities will be discussed in team meetings to help guide the team and drive continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on wastewater compliance and regulatory requirements, ensuring that health and safety remain a top priority at all times.
As a management role, the successful candidate will be responsible for offering constructive feedback that supports colleagues in improving their performance while ensuring they feel valued. You will aim to boost employee engagement by adopting a culture of trust, empowering your team to confidently make decisions and take accountability.
This role is responsible for ensuring an excellent working relationship with environmental regulators and external customers, therefore previous experience in such a role is preferred.

About you
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate strong leadership skills, capable of motivating and leading by example while encouraging a culture of empowerment that drives a high-performing team.
You will have the ability to provide clear, confident technical advice that influences senior leaders and external stakeholders. You will also have experience working directly with environmental regulators providing clear and transparent information.
You will be able to manage commercial relationships with our customers, issue and manage discharge consents to ensure compliance against environmental standards.
A comprehensive induction process will be provided to give you with the necessary wastewater knowledge you will need. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is passionate about continuous learning and eager to expand their knowledge.
This role requires the successful candidate to hold a full valid UK driving licence.
