About the role

Are you interested in Science and Technology? Do you love variety in your work and trying new things? Are you excited by working on a range of projects that have the opportunity to make a real difference?

As a Laboratory Informatics Apprentice, you will spend three years in our Laboratory Informatics Department, learning to support our laboratory and sampling team and maintain and develop laboratory applications and digital tools that underpin scientific operations.

You will also have the opportunity to learn about the wider business through Northumbrian Water Group’s Mentor and Apprenticeship Programme.

Getting experience can be challenging and we’ve designed this opportunity so you can contribute and bring your ideas to real projects, whilst working in collaboration with your colleagues. This role offers broad experience across a wide range of specialisms and areas of practice.

One day a week will be spent at University completing a Level 6 Digital Apprenticeship Degree.

About you

Attitude, how you work with others, research skills, using data and the ability to seek out fresh thinking is more important than prior experience. We are looking for people passionate about creating positive, healthy, high-performance workplaces who have enquiring minds capable of innovative solutions.

You will be over 18 and have 112 UCAS points, ideally having studied both computer science and a scientific subject at A Level and have Maths and English GCSE at grade C/4 or above and must be willing to travel to Sunderland for 1 day a week to study a Digital Technology Solutions Professional Apprenticeship.

You must have an analytical approach to problem solving and the ability to work both to a supplied specification and be creative enough to develop your own solutions. You will be the person that has a passion for digital technology and be willing to turn you hand to whatever needs doing.

You will be highly motivated to learn and develop new skills, with a strong focus on health and safety and be an excellent communicator.
