About the role
Are you curious? Love variety in work and trying new things? Excited by working on a range of projects that have the opportunity to make a real difference to the work and working lives of over 3,000 people?
As one of our Digital Degree Apprentices, you will spend three years in our Information Services (IS) Department within either our Cloud & Infrastructure or Development Team and gain real hands-on experience and insight into working in an IT environment. Your role may include activities such as supporting infrastructure, developing applications, learning about cyber security, data and analytics, product management, service operations, project management, and IT governance — providing exposure to a range of potential IT career pathways.
To support your business awareness, you will also spend time with teams in various areas of the business to get an understanding and appreciation of how IT can support our colleagues in their day-to-day roles. As well as having opportunity to learn about the wider business through a mentor and apprenticeship programme.
You will earn whilst you learn and will gain real work experience, alongside studying for your degree, completely debt free! If you don’t have prior experience or an IT background, don’t worry you can learn technical skills and we have non-technical roles throughout IT. Your attitude, how you communicate and work with others, research skills, using data and the ability to seek out fresh thinking is more important to us. We are looking for people passionate about developing a career in IT whilst creating positive, healthy, high-performance workplaces.
One day a week will be spent at the University of Sunderland completing your IT Consultant Digital and Technology Solutions, Level 6 Apprenticeship Degree.
About you
You will be engaging with colleagues from across the business and a range of stakeholders so you will be able to build relationships whilst providing excellent customer service. This also means you will need to demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal. It doesn’t matter if you’ve not previously studied IT, as long as you have an interest in learning and gaining work experience within an IT working environment.
Our IS Team is fast paced, supporting over 3,800 colleagues across the business which means the successful candidate will be a quick learner who can manage their time effectively. In addition, you will be capable of adapting to change.
We enjoy collaborating as one team but there will be time when you will work individually. This means you will be able to adapt and work effectively in both environments.
What will I need?
How do I apply?
We will be open for applications on Monday 9th Feb until Sunday 22nd Feb 26.
