About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our People team as a Senior People Business Partner, leading the partnering for our Asset, IS & Finance Directorates. The sector is in a time of significant growth and change and you will be contributing to major people focused projects. Working with colleagues you will play a key role to deliver our people strategy to attract, retain and reward the right people, with the right skills for our customers, communities, and the environment.
We see there are 4 key elements to the role of our Senior People Business Partners – the provision of strategic people partnering, leading the deployment of core cycle people activity, building and listening to colleague engagement & voice and driving high performance & continuous improvement.
You’ll be responsible for the strategic people partnering for a number of our business directorates, working in partnership with the business leaders and subject matter experts to identify, shape, align and drive operational and strategic people priorities for your business areas. This includes partnership on change management, workforce planning, talent management and succession, recruitment, team development, organisational design and effectiveness, engagement and culture, employee relations, and diversity and inclusion.
We’re looking for you to deploy core talent and reward activity for your business areas, along with supporting the development of a talent pipeline to satisfy short-term demands and long-term strategic workforce plans.
You’ll be working with leaders at all levels within the business area, advising and coaching and utilising the skills and knowledge of our People Centres of Expertise. Seeking insights you will shape your approach based upon issues highlighted through our colleague survey as well as other feedback received. You’ll build diversity and opportunity ensuring that the culture is welcoming, providing the right level of challenge and support, to enable strong wellbeing and inclusion in line with Northumbrian Water’s values.
Through collaboration with leaders you’ll enable and embed people change initiatives within the business area, providing a robust framework to plan and manage the continuous process of change, including dependencies, risk, potential scenarios and mitigation.

About you

We’re looking for you to be CIPD Qualified, with extensive HR experience, including working at a strategic level with senior business stakeholders. You’ll have proven experience of engaging, challenging and influencing at all levels within a business organisation whilst developing strong networks and building positive partnerships with key stakeholders, including Trade Unions.
You’ll have proven experience of developing new programmes and monitoring the impact/ evaluating existing ones, along with experience of workforce planning, including managing talent development and talent mobility.
We’re looking for you to great at managing and supporting leaders to improve colleague engagement, along with ensuring programmes and activities are delivered inclusively and create business diversity.
