Facilities and Building Services Assistant (Building Services)
Full Time – 37 hours per week

Salary – up to £31,000 (depending on experience)
Location – Pity Me, Durham
About the role
We have a great opportunity for someone to join our Facilities team and play a key role in creating a safe, efficient, and enjoyable workplace for our colleagues. We’re responsible for the day to day running of our main offices, grounds, and car parks, covering everything from building services and office management to maintenance and investment. Our goal is to ensure a great workplace experience in a secure and well-maintained environment.
You’ll join us at our office in Pity Me, Durham and while this role is primarily based in Durham, you’ll also have the opportunity to visit other sites across the northeast, working closely with our internal customers and framework contractors. If you’re ready to be part of a team that keeps our offices running smoothly and efficiently, we’d love to hear from you.
About you
The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with great communication skills. We’re looking for someone who can take charge of referred helpdesk calls that require contractor involvement, ensuring RAMS are reviewed and building maintenance work is completed, efficiently and safely, in line with CDM regulations and internal contractor management procedures. You'll also be comfortable tracking costs and maintaining accurate records as this is a key part of the role.
Collaboration is essential, as you'll work closely with our framework contractors and suppliers to ensure our offices and assets remain fully compliant with internal procedures and legislation. Keeping our workplaces safe and well-maintained is at the heart of what we do, and we need someone who shares our commitment to high standards.
If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, can work independently, and adapt quickly to shifting priorities, this could be the perfect role for you. Strong Excel skills, including confidence with pivot tables, will be important, as well as the ability to manage your workload effectively. A full and valid manual driving licence is also required, as you’ll need to drive our pool cars to different sites when needed.
