We have an exciting leadership opportunity for the Head of Capital Delivery within our Assets Directorate, reporting to the Assets Director. You will provide strategic direction and leadership to the Capital Delivery function and act as Managing Director for our collaborative partnership model, The Living Water Enterprise.
You will ensure excellence in delivering large-scale, complex projects and programs, with accountability for managing and continuously improving the delivery efficiency of a capital plan worth around £500M per annum, including the management of enterprise partners. This role involves setting ambitious performance targets for multiple geographically dispersed teams.
Your responsibilities will include managing the resources of the Capital Delivery function—budget, people, and technology—to ensure quality, commerciality and efficiency in project delivery. You will develop and implement resource allocation strategies, monitor usage, and find opportunities for optimization.
As the Managing Director for the Living Water Enterprise, you will build and maintain strong relationships with partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective governance and performance management. You will drive our values, culture, and mission to deliver high-quality, sustainable, innovative, and affordable solutions for NWL and our customers.
You will also establish effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other departments within Northumbrian Water, regulatory bodies, alliance supply chain partners, and customers. Collaboration is key to understanding their requirements, anticipating future needs, and incorporating their feedback into project planning and delivery.
About you
We seek a strategic leader with experience driving performance in diverse, geographically dispersed teams. You'll be a strategic thinker who can implement performance improvements based on macro environment analyses.
You should be skilled in managing and influencing stakeholders and have senior leadership experience involving multidisciplinary teams. Experience leading engineering, construction, commercial, project management, and programme management teams, as well as enhancing safety, is essential.
An in-depth understanding of construction processes, technical disciplines in asset creation, operation, and maintenance, and knowledge of regulatory and legislative requirements are critical.
