About the role

 

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Wastewater Strategic Planning team as a Technical Policy Manager.

 

If you have experience of developing plans and strategies in asset organisations, we want to hear from you. You will have knowledge and experience of the challenges and trends in the water sector, as well as experience working in a regulated environment. Ideally, you will also have an understanding of Defra, the Environment Agency and OFWAT.

 

You will understand option development, option appraisal and cost-benefit principles that will drive decision making, helping to ensure that we achieve performance targets and compliance requirements.

 

You’ll also be involved in leading innovative solutions, technical research and advances in technologies that support the efficient delivery of our ambitious goals.

 

You will have the people skills to ensure a collaborative and cross team approach, as well as the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure our organisation remains at the forefront of best practice and innovation while raising the profile of NWG.

 

You’ll be expected to represent NWG in industry working groups and collaborate with peers to shape strategies and plans that are supported, endorsed and actionable by operations, investment delivery teams and partners.

 

About you

 

We’re looking for you to have experience in strategy development and asset management, along with proven experience of developing technical reports, policies and strategies.

 

It’s also important that you have technical knowledge and understanding of the operation of water industry service delivery and our regulatory framework.

 

You’ll have the ability to analyse and understand data sourced from multiple systems to provide evidence base for decisions and actions.

 

You’ll have excellent communication skills and be motivated to achieving results. You’ll be able to manage a demanding workload and have a proven track record of solving problems and finding effective solutions in a fast changing environment.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
