About the role

We have an amazing opportunity to become our Asset Modelling Data Scientist, reporting into the Asset Modelling Manager within Northumbrian Water’s Asset Directorate. The role is key to delivering solutions to strategic and tactical operational challenges using data and the power of reasoned thinking.

You will use data sources along with technical know-how to carry out performance forecasting and asset deterioration modelling of infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets. As an integral part of the Asset Intelligence team you will provide valuable insight to help answer business critical questions.

A natural communicator, you will work with a number of different teams (Planning, Operations, Maintenance) and decision makers, developing and documenting recommendations for tackling complex problems that will later be implemented.

You will be a solution-based thinker, your ideas fostering innovation as you identify opportunities for creative data insights solutions. Passionate about your subject, you will also show a commitment to continuous learning as the area of data intelligence continues to rapidly evolve.

About you

We’re looking for you to have experience of solving problems using data mining techniques and statistical rigour. Ideally, you will also have experience working in the water industry.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders at varying levels, communicating clearly and with confidence.

You will be skilled in data analysis, modelling, machine learning and programming, with a good working knowledge of the statistical programming language R.

Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, you will demonstrate adaptability, self-motivation and strong engagement skills at all levels.

If you’re an analytical thinker with experience in consulting data to develop practical solutions and would like to join us in delivering our exciting vision for AMP8 and beyond then we’d love to see your application come through to us.
