Salary £28,263 - £35,329 (depending on experience)
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Water Networks team as a Distribution Technician.
As a Distribution Technician, you will work across the Wear area, dealing with and resolving customer & network problems, you will be working as part of a customer focussed team who will all play a part to help deliver the companies’ 14 ambitious goals which is at the heart of our 2020/25 plan.
Our Distribution Technicians offer face to face technical assistance to our customers, identifying leaks, faults and any potential issues that need attention/referral to our Distribution maintenance services teams.
Working flexibly within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, Health & Safety is paramount within the role for both yourself as an individual and also the wider team, you will be required to maintain and competently operate our comprehensive water network and deliver world class customer service. Working to strict water quality measures, reducing leakage, maintaining supplies, working to environmental compliance is all part of this exciting and challenging opportunity.
Within the Water Network team, we encourage empowerment as part of our engagement strategy, as part of this you will receive support, training & coaching in line with the competencies and skills required, once you meet these competencies and skills you will then be expected to take part in an operational standby rota.
This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked
About you
Ideally you will have experience in managing issues on domestic and strategic water networks and have a good understanding of the day-to-day operation of our above ground assets such as Water Pumping stations and impounding service reservoirs.
You will have excellent communication and customer service skills and have a desire to work flexibly in a 24/7 fast paced environment, you will be expected to work alone using your own initiative and with minimum supervision to make on the spot decisions, thus enabling you to work and think smarter while feeling confident in the decisions you make.
You will thrive in an environment which relies on your problem solving skills.
Successful candidates will hold a full UK manual driving licence and live within or close proximity to the Durham area.
