About the role

 

We are expanding our Ecological Services team and looking for an Archaeological Specialist to provide advice and support for capital projects and business requests across our NWG operating area (Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water).  

 

Within this role you will be responsible for conducting archaeological screening for our investment programme, helping to minimise impacts and ensure compliance with relevant legislation whilst enhancing the environment.

 

You’ll also carry out archaeological activities such as, applying for scheduled monument consents, field work, and reporting.

 

This means you will prepare watching briefs, approving external specifications and written schemes of investigation, and monitoring projects to ensure they meet planning conditions and best professional practice.

 

You’ll also offer archaeological advice both within the team, and across the business whilst collaborating with local authorities, to provide guidance on the archaeological implications of planning applications.

 

About you

The successful candidate will have experience in screening projects to assess their archaeological impact. This means you will have a strong understanding of relevant legislation and policies.

 

You’ll partner with stakeholders, providing vital recommendations through writing clear proposals and reports.  

 

The successful candidate will require a driving licence and their own vehicle.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
