About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our People team as a People Business Partner, to play a key role in delivering a focused service to the business area to achieve its objectives through people.
Our sector is in a time of significant growth and change and you will be working collaboratively and in line with Northumbrian Water’s people strategy to attract, retain and reward the right people, with the right skills. You’ll be supporting Operational Managers with the delivery of their business plan, utilising People Centres of Expertise, aiding an inclusive culture and advocating for the company's values.
There are 4 key elements to the role of our People Business Partners – the provision of people partnering, facilitating the core cycle people activity, building and listening to colleague engagement & voice and driving high performance & continuous improvement.
You’ll be responsible for the people partnering for a number of our business directorates, working in partnership with the Senior People Partner, Operational Managers and subject matter experts to ensure delivery of people priorities for your business areas.
You’ll get to know your business areas inside out so that you can support leaders with achieving business objectives. You’ll be enabling effective change management, supporting on workforce planning, talent management and succession, recruitment, team development, organisational design and effectiveness, engagement and culture, employee relations, and diversity and inclusion.
We’re looking for you to manage the deployment and compliance of reward activity for your business areas, along with supporting the development of a talent pipeline to satisfy short-term demands and long-term strategic workforce plans.
You’ll be working with operational leaders and manager levels within the business area on successful delivery of change initiatives, along with providing a robust framework to plan and manage the continuous process of change, including dependencies, risk, potential scenarios and mitigation.
About you

We’re looking for you to be CIPD Qualified, with significant HR experience, including working with a range of business stakeholders. You’ll be able to demonstrate the value of business partnering with proven experience of engaging, challenging and influencing managers and senior professionals over a range of people related activities. We’re also looking you to demonstrate experience of developing strong networks and building positive partnerships with key stakeholders, including Trade Unions.
You’ll have proven experience of delivering and embedding new programmes and monitoring the impact/ evaluating existing ones, along with experience of managing talent development and talent mobility.
We’re looking for you to demonstrate experience of managing and supporting managers and senior professionals to improve colleague engagement, along with ensuring programmes and activities are delivered inclusively and create business diversity.
Please note this role may require a DBS to be completed prior to employment.
