Water Network Operative
Full Time - Permanent
Salary Up to £35,957 (Up to £47,000 OTE) – including Company Van + Fuel Card
Location – Essex operating area (Dagenham, Southend, Hanningfield depots)
5x 8 Hour shifts Monday to Friday, leading to
4x 10-hour shifts Monday- Saturday
Participation in a contractual, out of hour’s standby rota
About the role
We have several fantastic opportunities for you to join us as a Water Network Operative based at our Hanningfield, Dagenham and Southend depots. As part of this role standby rota, we ask that applicants reside within a reasonable travel distance to our area of supply.
As a Water Network Operative, you will be working within the Network Services Team that has Health & Safety at the heart of everything we do.
Reporting to one of our Area Managers, you will be responsible for repair and maintenance on our distribution network of underground pipes and fittings,. Working safely, hygienically, and to a high standard to ensure compliance with Regulatory standards. and always delivering great customer service.
The work involves excavating in the public highway using multiple techniques, therefore previous experience is essential. Carrying out repairs and maintenance activities to our underground pipes and assets, from fixing burst water mains through to installing stop taps – essentially always delivery great customer service by, keeping the water flowing to our customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.
About you
This role will see you join a high performing team, taking responsibility for carrying out high quality repairs and maintenance to our distribution network. You will have a zero compromise to Health and Safety, following our “Everyone Home Safe Everyday” motto.
We want our customers to have clean, flowing water every minute of every hour of every day, so we need people who want to make a difference., You will be adaptable and work flexibly including participation in our out of hours standby rota.
You will have the ability to undertake excavations in the public highway using a range of different techniques and send and receive electronic work requests on electronic devices - such as an iPhone.
In addition you will have experience in maintenance and repairs of underground assets/ or similar.
You will be required to communicate with a variety of Teams across the business which means having good communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical messages in a simple way is important. This is coupled with strong attention to detail and ability to listen to and act upon instructions.
Please note you must be able to meet the physical demand of the role with the ability to work outdoors in all weathers.
Ideally you will hold a An EUSR Hygiene card, Street works accreditation (NRSWA), Mini Digger qualification. In addition, conducted main layer and service laying training, deep excavation / trench support training.
This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked
